The big news from the A.G.M. of Mullagh Camogie Club held on 15 January 2010 was the election of Seamus Canning as Chairman in succession to John Bowes outgoing Chairman. He set out his stall in impressive manner for the further development of the Club citing the abundance of talent available to challenge for Senior honours in the coming year.
The outgoing Secretaries Kathleen Cahalan and Edel Mitchell in their reports lauded the achievements of the under 18 team in winning two county championships in the one year, the Pan Celtic winning under 16 side and the Senior team winning the ‘B’ competition. Not forgetting the little ones the under 10’s and under 12’s who won their respective competitions.
Equal credit was given to the under 13 team beaten in the county semi-final, the under 14 ‘B’ team beaten in the play-offs and the Junior ‘A’ team beaten in the County final. Appreciation and thanks was recorded to all those who supported the club in many ways throughout the year.
Cora Shaughnessy outgoing Treasurer provided a set of accounts with full explanation of all the expenditure which showed a breakeven situation after a very busy year. In confirming her retirement from the position she thanked all who supported the fundraising events – the forest walk, the table quiz and the Lotto.
John Bowes in his address thanked all his fellow officers and committee and complimented all the teams on their achievements. He made particular mention of those from the Club on the Galway All Ireland winning Intermediate team and to Sarah Dervan who gave an All Star performance on the day.
The following Officers were subsequently elected – Chairman : Seamus Canning; Vice-Chairman : Noel Kelly; Joint Secretaries : Caroline Fahy/Noeleen Manning; Assistant Secretary : Anne Marie Dolphin; Treasurer : Bernie Daly; Assistant Treasurer : Carmel Donohue; P.R.O. : Paul O’Donnell; County Board Delegate : Noel Kelly. Committee : John Bowes, Edel Mitchell, Joe Clarke, Ita Dervan, Sinead Cahalan.
Selectors : Under 10/12 – Seamus Canning, Anne Marie Donohue, Emer Larkin, Tony Connolly. Under 13/14/16 – deferred, Under 18 – Donal Reilly and Cathal Dervan. Senior/Junior – deferred.

Mullagh 1 – 8 Killimor 0 – 4.
Christmas came early for the under 18 girls at a seasonal Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Sunday (20 December 2009) when they overcome the challenge of Killimor to celebrate a second county title in this grade having won the 2008 championship a mere 11 weeks ago back in October. An amazing turnaround considering that this honour had evaded the club since its formation in 1983.
The team had stars throughout and special mention must be made of Catriona Daly, Niamh O’Brien, Deirdre Kelly, Aoife Donohue, Sarah Smyth and Rachel Monaghan.
Mullagh : Catriona Daly, Aisling Joynt, Niamh O’Brien, Sarah Dolan, Fiona Kelly, Deirdre Kelly, Ciara Donohue, Aoife Donohue (0 – 1), Siobhan Kelly (0 - 1), Sarah Smyth (1 -1, Riona Daly (capt), Azarah Gordon, Brenda Cahalan, Rachel Monaghan (0 - 5), Karen Kennedy. Subs : Mairead Whyte for Brenda Cahalan Shauna Coen for Aisling Joynt, Elaine Reynolds for Siobhan Kelly.
Afterwards the cup was presented to Riona Daly the winning captain by Catherine McGrath Chairperson Galway Camogie Board who thanked both teams for serving up a competitive game in inclement weather conditions. Riona Daly in accepting the cup thanked her team and especially the management of Donal Reilly and Cathal Dervan.
The player of the match was awarded to Aoife Donohue and it was presented by Frank Duane Vice-Chairman Galway Camogie Board who stated that she stood head and shoulders metaphorically speaking over all other contenders.

Mullagh 1 - 9
Sarsfields 0 - 5
The frost lay thick on the ground, it was bitingly cold and before most people’s breakfast on a Sunday morning but this did not deter the girls from Mullagh and Sarsfields serving up a very competitive game in this under 18 county camogie seni-final played at Ballinasloe on 20 December 2009.
Sarsfields had the upper hand on Mullagh in the early stages and by the end of the first quarter were 0 - 3 to 0 - 1 ahead but by half time the margin had been reduced to one point which did not do justice to the superiority of Sarsfields.
However Mullagh owned the second half conceding only two points and adding 1 – 6 to the scoreboard. This revival started with a brilliant Aoife Donohue goal in the 11th minute and from that Mullagh drove on to a county final place v Killimor which may be played next weekend.
Mullagh : Catriona Daly, Aisling Joynt, Niamh O’Brien, Sarah Dolan, Fiona Kelly, Deirdre Kelly, Ciara Donohue, Aoife Donohue (1 – 1), Sarah Smyth, Siobhan Kelly, Riona Daly, Azarah Gordon, Brenda Cahalan ( 0 – 1), Rachel Monaghan (0 - 6), Karen Kennedy (0 – 1). Subs : Shauna Coen for Sarah Dolan, Elaine Reynolds for Aisling Joynt.
