Mullagh 2 - 2
Killimordaly 0 - 5
Mullagh collected their third Senior B title this decade when they defeated Killimordaly in the final at Mullagh on Monday 26 October 2009.
This competition was played in a Blitz format and Mullagh defeated Davitts by 0 – 8 to 2 – 0 in the semi-final before overcoming the stern challenge of Killimordaly in the final by 2 – 2 to 0 - 5.
Colette Glennon opened the scoring for Mullagh in the 3rd minute with a point but by half time the home side were trailing by 0 – 4 to 0 - 2 with the second point coming from a Cathy Bowes free.
A superb goal off the stick of Alison Clarke from a pass from Rachel Monaghan put Mullagh ahead again and when Killimordaly drew level the remaining minutes were fought out tigerishly by both sides with the Mullagh defence unyielding. With two minutes to go Cathy Bowes found Aoife Donohue free and she found the net destroying Killimordaly’s chances of victory as time ran out.
