Congratulations to Finian Coone who lifted the Fitzgibbon cup for NUIG bridging a 30 year gap for the college as they defeated Waterford IT in the final yesterday in Pearse Stadium on a final scoreline of :

NUIG over came a stern LIT in the semi final on Friday and again were forced to dig deep in the closing minutes of extra time in yesterday's final. Coone was instrumental in getting the winning score winning the ball around midfield to eventually see Clare's John Conlon finish well to win by the narrowest of margins.Finian got (0:09) 6fs 1 65 and was a constant threat to the Waterford IT rearguard.

Niall Cahalan

Niall Cahalan contributed 2 inspiring points from midfield and was very enterprising in support to his forwards in Galway's 4:15 to 1:15 win over Waterford in the National Hurling League at the weekend.

Niall is included at midfield on the Galway side to face Waterford in the Division One National Hurling League on Sunday at Pearse Stadium throw in is at 2:30pm

Niall Cahalan made his National Hurling League debut at midfield with the Galway Senior hurlers at the weekend when Galway had a 1:18 to 1:11 victory over Limerick at Kilmallock. Niall contributed 2 points from play.
